UK Professional Claims Guidelines

Submitting a claim under your Professional Policy

If you become aware of any circumstances which may result in a claim, please ensure that the following action is taken:

  1. Photocopy any correspondence for your own file and send the original by first class post to Insurance Data Services.


  2. To enable your insurers to deal with the claim please also provide copies of any x-rays, clear photocopies of your case notes with a typewritten transcript for ease of reading, written authority for your insurers to release these to either the claimant or his/her representative if it becomes necessary, and a statement of the circumstances leading to the claim.

We must emphasise the importance of complying with the procedures outlined above and forwarding letters the day they are received if your interests are to be protected. Remember your insurers must reply to every claim within 21 days.

Should any further correspondence be received from the claimant, acknowledge receipt stating that the matter has been passed to your insurers and forward the correspondence to IDS immediately.
